Due to the unfortunate crash of PSBK star Marvin Mangulabnan of Team MM189 Motul yesterday (read here) during a private open practice at Clark Speedway on his superbike where he sustained a suspected collarbone injury, he will be unable to race in the highly anticipated Motul MotoIR3 All-Star race at the MotoIR Championships.

Taking over the new #18 MiniGP MotoIR3 spec bike slot will be an underbone and scooter legend.

Made famous by his titanic battle with the late Maico Buncio in IRGP3 almost 12 years ago, IRGP champion and former ARRC UB racer John Lery Enriquez will make another racing comeback tomorrow.

Enriquez won mutiple times in IRGP

Enriquez is one of only very few riders who could claim that they raced and beat Maico Buncio during his prime.

The epic IRGP race with rival and friend Maico Buncio that still resonates with many fans

Supported by friend and Speedtuner owner Michael Victor Mazo, Enriquez will be racing bikes again after many years of inactivity. Though he is now much older and his racing career has had many ups and down due to personal reasons, Mazo believed John John still has some spark in him and is eager to redeem himself.

Enriquez was the first to race in ARRC Ubone class with Yoshimura Suzuki

“Sinabi niya sa akin na buo ang loob niya na bumalik at magbago. Bigyan natin sya ng isa pang chance,” said Mazo.

John Lery is equally grateful for this opportunity and made his feeling known to all his supporters on social media.

Enriquez was part of the epic and pioneering Yamaha Asean Cup Team sent to Thailand in 2005

“First of all, InsideRACING Nation wish PSBK champion Marvin Mangulabnan a speedy recovery. We are saddened by the news upon hearing his accident and we will miss him in the big race tomorrow. At the same time, we are fortunate and glad to have John Lery back on the IR grid as we ourselves are also trying to comeback in organizing races and events that our loyal fans love. Johnll Lery will bring a huge amount of excitement and emotional significance to the MotoIR3 All-Star race. Together with the other six all star riders, the race now represents a multi generation of Pinoy racing greats,” said MotoIR Chairman Al Camba.
