A message from Yamaha Factory Racing:

Today, July 1, is Yamaha Motor’s 66th birthday.

We went racing just 9 days after our founding and won, on July 10, 1955. We’ve been active in the racing scene ever since.

Kenny Roberts 3-time 500cc World Champion

With the desire to produce even better products for our customers and deliver more Kando* to the world, we’ve worked hard and put our maximum effort into our racing. But at the same time, we’ve enjoyed every moment. The goals have always been to improve our technology, to develop faster race machines, to fight close battles with our rivals on track, and with the cheers of fans across the globe at our backs, take that next victory. The feeling of Kando* that comes with that is something difficult to put into words.

Eddie Lawson 4-time 500cc Wirld Champion

*Kando is a Japanese word for the simultaneous feelings of deep satisfaction and intense excitement that we experience when we encounter something of exceptional value.

Wayne Rainey 3-time 500cc World Champion

Yamaha began racing in the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix in 1961, and we’ve continued to do so because we want to achieve our goals, because we’re always up for a challenge, and most of all because we love racing.

Valentino Rossi 7-time MotoGP World Champion

Our feelings are the same now that they were on July 1, 1955, and will continue to be as we take on new challenges.
