After being displayed at the InsideRACING Bike Festival and Trade Show in 2015, in a simple ceremony at the Yamaha YZone, Yamaha Motor Philippines brought the bike that would complete the R-Series line-up, the YZF-R6.

The R6 is a middleweight supersport bike that has been much awaited to be finally sold here. “We have officially launched one of the R-Series bikes of Yamaha which is the R6. Same as the R1, it is equipped with racing features and city driving modes,” Yamaha YZone OIC Manager Mr. Adrian Duran shared during the event. “It is still equipped with Traction Control, ABS, Drive Modes and in-line 4-cylinder with 16 Titanium Valves in which the bike is both for city driving and track racing,” he added.

Hosted by resident emcee Rico Robles, the crowd consisted mostly of Yamaha big bikers who have been eagerly waiting for the official arrival of the YZF wonder. Most of the event-goers took home raffle prizes courtesy of Yamaha Motor Philippines.

Getting into the technical features of this technologically advanced beast, this is the bike you are definitely dreaming of. You can feel the race-bred soul with its powerful 599cc in-line 4-cylinder, 16 titanium valves DOHC F.I. engine for a refined and smooth high-revving power. Featuring the Aerodynamic style with the next generation control, its YZF-R1 design style cowling with LED position lights and hidden headlights, race style analog tachometer with digital screen appeal to be sportier than ever. This beast also comes with a remarkable high-tech electronic system such as Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) for a broader and more tractable powerband, a 6-mode Traction Control System (TCS) as well as a Quick Shifter System (QSS), ABS and D-Mode Adjustable engine power that will give you the ability to push even harder and have ultimate control. The 2017 YZF-R6 users are given full flexibility to choose the ideal engine character for various riding situations. It is equipped with Yamaha’s D-Mode system which offers three throttle valve control maps (Standard Mode, “A-Mode, and “BMode”) with different throttle response settings for absolute adaptability in just one click. All these while having the fully adjustable YZF-R1 type 43mm upside down front forks combined with rear shock and dual front discs for sharper handling and stronger braking.

The fact that the first batch that the YZone has brought in has already sold out even before the official launch is the best way to describe the appeal and the demand that the R6 brings to the local big bike market.

Current Yamaha owners, media partners, and executives from Yamaha Motor Philippines led by Sales and Marketing Director Mr. Akihiro Maruo were present to witness the unveiling. Yamaha’s celebrity endorser, Gab Valenciano, was also there during the event.
