Maurico transfers to a new team

Last Saturday, PSR and UBK star Gian Carlo Mauricio, made his racing debut in the MOTUL Super Series Nationwide Championships LUZON GP opener wearing new colors and on a differend brand of bike.
After more then 2 years of carrying JVT yellow and Honda red in the nationals and IRGP, the former MotoIR2 Youth Champion saddled a blue and white Yamaha Sniper and Mio racebikes.
Supported by hus deducated and loving father former racer Edwin Mauricio, Gian Carlo carried the team name GCM24 for the race weekend. He was initially was supported by many private individuals like Team Sumulong and companies like KOBY, RS8 and Pirelli, who gave products and in kind and Yamaha Philippines for the racebikes.
He proceeded to dominate the Repsol Super Scooter GP Class with two victories and two podium finished in the VS1 Mototek Super Underbone Open GP. A strong statement that “The Flash” from Antipolo is back.
Yesterday, 4S1M Yamaha Racing Team posted on their social media page to officially welcome Mauricio to their team and into the Yamaha fold.
But months before the race and the official announcement, IR Nation was able to get some insights from one of the currrent Pinoy racing star about his move.
IR: How does it feel to transfer to a new team? Gian Carlo Mauricio: Malaking pag babago po ito para sa akin kasi compare dati nasa malaking company ako tapos ngayon nasa privateer team ako (GMC24). kaya madaming changes na nangyayari pero happy naman ako sa team ko dahil lumalaban kami on the top at gagawin namin lahat to be a better team.
IR: When was the last time you rode a Yamaha? GCM: Year 2018 po ako huling gumamit ng yamaha at ito ay Sniper 150 under JVT Team pero sa scooter naman ay simula 2015 until now mio ang ginagamit namin for 160 and 180cc races.
IR: What is the goal for 2021 and what is your plan for 2022? GCM: ” Ang goal ko is manalo ng manalo at maging overall champion sa UBK at PSR category para mag karoon ulit ng magandang oppurtunity para sa akin.
IR: What is your favorite Yamaha bike and why?
GCM: My favorite bike is Yamaha Sniper 150 dahil eto din yung ginagamit ko sa mga races ko and also maganda din yung look at performance na binibigay sa akin
Team 4S1M Yamaha Racing Team is owmed by Mr. Mark Tan. The team also fields ” The Hitman” J.E. Inguito in the ARRC UB150 Championships. Mauricio’s signing for the team gives hope for fans and supporters of “The Flash” that he may also follow the footsteps of “Wonder Boy” Kyle Paz and “The Hitman” to international racing glory.
