New Stars Emerged as MotoIR Opened in Tarlac

The 2022 MotoIR Championship had a successful first round dubbed Motul GP at the Tarlac Circuit Hill on April 24. The event was made exciting with the participation of prominent names together with new riders that are making their mark in the country’s racing scene.
EJ Sobretodo sponsored by Angkas-VMan led the MotoIR class winners. EJ triumphed in the MotoIR2 GP and Motul MotoIR3 GP categories while his younger brother Joshua Sobretodo or RacePro-VMan won the Motul MotoIR3 SP class. Carl Ferrer of C.R.A.-Motosupply impressively finished first in the Motul MotoIR2 SP group. His mentor Fritsy Claveria of Team 137-SEC Motosupply dominated the Motul MotoIR1 GP race as Lawrence Valencia of Team MotoTan placed first in the SP class of the said category which was graced by the participation of veteran rider Rizaldy Canare who was awarded the MotoIR1 Legend trophy. Canare of FGM-Kawasaki also placed second in the Motul MotoIR1 GP.

In the MotoIR underbone classes, EJ Sobretodo had a strong showing which resulted to his win the MotoIR UB USRA Sealed GP. Timothy Rojas who raced for ZENEOS and MTRT-Race Pro took home two wins after a good performance in the Denoo Motor Oil MotoIR UB Open SP and MotoIR UB USRA Sealed GP classes. Rojas used the race bike of ZENEOS star rider Masato Fernando in the MotoIR UB Open class. His ZENEOS teammate that day, Robert Ryan Espiritu, rode impeccably and won the GP category.

Dustin Esguerra, Edcel Corpuz and Elyssa Mae Daag were the winners in the MotoIR Automatic classes. Expert rider Dustin Esguerra supported by Denoo Motor Oil and Gille Helmets took the victory in the closely battled MotoIR AT Open GP race. NCY-Suntal-JDO rider Edcel Corpuz delivered a win to his team after a solid run in the MotoIR AT Open SP class. In the MotoIR AT 115 USRA Sealed category, lady rider Elyssa Mae Daag of Fastek Racing Team had an awesome first MotoIR race as she bagged a win.

The highly anticipated MotoIR Maxi GP class saw a blazing run from winner Ton Farin of Fastek Racing Team. RS8-ID Helmets-Arkinians racer Sean Andrej Ondillo was the winner in the MotoIR Maxi SP class. IRGP legend Paul Pangilinan raced again and his participation in the MotoIR Maxi SP race delighted both race fans and riders. Pangilinan of Team Yezaroo was the third placer in the GP class and he also won in the MotoIR Maxi GP Legend category.

For the list and photos of MotoIR1 Motul GP winners, click here. The MotoIR Championship now heads to the Pampanga International Circuit in Porac, Pampanga for its second round. It will be an exciting challenge for the riders as it is the first time for the series to race in the said track.
