2024 Asia and Oceania Motorcycle Technician Skill Contest Held in the Philippines

The 2024 Asia and Oceania Motorcycle Technician Skill Contest was hosted by Honda Philippines Inc. for technicians from the region to awaken their challenging spirits as they work to CREATE quality service, TRANSCEND customers’ worries, and AUGMENT opportunities to engage with customers. It was held at the Honda Philippines plant in Batangas on December 11 and 12.

Organized by Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd, the contest is held every two years with the goal of continuous endeavor of Honda technicians. The ultimate beneficiaries are Honda’s customers who expect the very best technical service skills to maintain their motorcycles in first class condition. The competition highlights the huge role technicians play in the cycle of customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

Categories of the competition were Commuter 1 featuring the PCX, Commuter 2 using the Dio and theFun class where technicians worked on the NX500. Participating countries were Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mayanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, The Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Representatives of The Philippines were Jay Bernabe and Alberto Alabar in the Commuter 1 class, Aaron Glenn Aguilar and Jester Monsanto in the Commuter 2 class and CJ Mission and Mark John Blas in the Fun category. The Philippines has hosted and won the competition in 2007.

Team Honda Philippines
Winner in the Commuter 1 Category was Agung Prasetyo from Indonesia. First runner-up was Vietnam’s Chung Huu Nhan while Eko Purwanto from Indonesia was the third runner-up. Country winner in the Commuter 1 class was Indonesia with Vietnam and Malaysia being the 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up.

Lee Hong Quan from Vietnam was the winner in the Commuter 2 category. 1st Runner Up was Indonesia’s Agus Darmawan and 2nd Runner Up was Sittichock Reansritongkam from Thailand. Indonesia bagged the win in the Commuter 2 class. Vietnam was 1st Runner Up and The Philippines was the 2nd Runner Up.

Commuter 2 Category: 1st Runner – Agus Darmawan (Indonesia)

In the Fun category, victorious was Thailand’s Montree Neamnim. Thawin Jiengram from Thailand was 1st Runner Up while South Korea’s Jeonggi Min was the 2nd Runner Up. Thailand was the winner for the Fun class. 1st Runner Up was South Korea and 2nd Runner Up was Vietnam.

The Asia & Oceania Motorcycle Technician Skill Contest is a valuable initiative designed to recognize the most outstanding Honda motorcycle technicians across the Asia & Oceania region. It is an event conceived to stimulate all technicians to elevate their skills and to promote the best Customer Service experience for Honda customers.

Since the first contest in 2001, technicians have been provided with opportunities to exhibit their outstanding skills, demonstrate their knowledge, and engage in friendly competition with other technicians from Genpos and Distributors throughout the region.

The event was also graced by Honda Motor Company General Manager for Customer Service, Mr. Koji Takahashi and the HPI Executive Committee.
Set to be the only route to the Honda Global Technician Contest, Honda Asia and Oceania Regional Office continues to challenge its motorcycle technicians to aim for excellence, to achieve world class quality services.
