Alfonsi Daquigan is all fired up for the 2025 racing season! The 15-year-old continues to soar in motorsports and an exciting year ahead is set for the Filipino pride.
It will now be his second year in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (ATC) wherein he had a remarkable performance in 2024. Daquigan finished 9th overall out of 26 riders in the 2024 season, consistently scoring points and finishing inside the top 10 in 12 races. His highest finish was P6 in Race 1 of Round 6 held in Sepang, Malaysia. These great results and achievements secured him another year in the series where he will race faster, wiser and more experienced in 2025.
The Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup began in 2014 and provides an opportunity for the most talented young riders in Asia and Oceania to race and learn. It has established itself as one of the biggest and most successful paths on the Road to MotoGP. Each ATC round comprises two races, with the points system mirroring that of MotoGP™, and riders compete on identical, ATC-liveried Honda NSF250R Moto3 machines. Daquigan is one of seven returning competitors in ATC 2025, while 13 exciting new talents were selected at the Selection Event. It will be another diverse ATC campaign, as the 20-strong field hails from Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, China, India, Australia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Aside from his ATC campaign, Daquigan is also participating in the European Talent Cup (ETC) of the FIM JuniorGP World Championship. He is part of the 2025 Junior Talent Team line-up. The ETC features 14-19 year-old riders racing on Honda NSF250R race bikes. The JuniorGP will have races in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy in 2025.
“Alfonsi Daquigan: moving the Philippines up the Road to MotoGP. The Filipino makes the move to the ETC in 2025 after a season of impressive results in the ATC set him up for further progress on the European stage,” shared by Junior Talent Team which promotes and runs talents from different backgrounds and paths on the Road to MotoGP. The Junior Talent Team unifies different team names under the same umbrella – uniting the efforts of Dorna talent promotion programs with those of the sponsors and partners who provide important backing to young riders, teams and projects. Backed by Dorna, the Junior Talent Team was first created in 2015 as the Asia Talent Team and provides riders with the ideal environment to keep improving their skills and honing their racecraft.
The FIM JuniorGP World Championship is a melting pot of talent and competition, and the biggest path on the Road to MotoGP. Its high level of competition ensures every rider gets the opportunity to learn, progress and take their skills to the next level.
“Thank you Lord! First of all I want to thank the Junior Talent Team and Honda Philippines for this opportunity. Another step closer to the goal! I want to say thank you to my parents for all of the support. I love you,” expressed Daquigan.
Aside from his notable ATC campaign in 2024, Daquigan also had a superb year in local racing. He won the overall title in the SSBK (Super Sport Bike) class of the MotoIR Championship and finally bagged a coveted IRGP title after dominating the SSBK Grand Prix of the Alpinestars IRGPXVII.
Daquigan was one of the stars in the MotoIR3 Series in 2021 and thru talent, discipline and the great support of his family, he is now getting closer and closer to his dream of racing at the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. Congratulations and good luck Fonsi!
