Saturday’s (October 4) historic win for Alfonsi was a show of Filipino resiliency and determination as Daquigan fought from the harshest race penalty (two long laps) to climb back to the lead and capitalize on the leaders’ mistake to take victory! It sent a nation in frenzy and the community teary-eyed. But there were still some skeptics who instead want to look at is a only a “lucky” win. Well, Daquigan surely proved them wrong in Sunday’s Race 2 as he dominated the race, leading all but 3 laps to secure another victory for the Philippines!

He took the lead after only lap 1 and led all the way thru Lap 8 . “Daquigan looking so comfortable” said the impressed TV commentator.

This time it was championship leader Ogiwara’s turn to do 2 long lap penalties. He dropped to P18th. But unlike Alfonsi on Saturday, Ogiwara made another misdemeanor in his efforts to go to the front and earned another long lap penalty. He was not able to replicate Aflonsi’s amazing recovery to the front which makes Alfonsi’s victory a day before all the more impressive!

Daquigan fought with two other Japanese riders Ikegami and Iidaka, and briefly fell to P2 for a lap. But he spectacularly took it back only a lap later with a pass that had the commentator on the edge again.
Ikegami took the lead again with 3 laps to with Alfonsi hanging on 2nd. “But not for long as Daquigan took the lead again! Can anyone deny Daquigan to do a double here in Mandalika,” said the commentator. Afterwhich Daquigan led the last two laps to win his second ATC race of the weekend!

If Race 1 was all about determination, Race 2 was all about domination for Daquigan as all the top riders had non-lasting challenge for the Filipino.

“Dream weekend! We got the double, thanks to everyone for the support, now it’s time to enjoy the moment and keep working hard for the future. Incredible .See you in Malaysia. Thank you,” said Alfonsi.
Congratulations Alfonsi, to your family, Honda Philippines and WRD!
