Access Plus Racing-Okada Manila is pumped up to go back racing after more than a year in hiatus, kick starting the 2021 season with a new challenge. While the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) won’t see action until later in the year, the team is going back to its roots as they announce a surprise entry into the Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK).

Their line-up will consist of father-and-son tandem Toti and Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto entering the Masters and Expert categories, respectively. Both will ride the very capable Panigale V4R, which the team used previously in the ARRC, with the elder Alberto flying the colors for Ducati Manila while his son races the purple-and-white livery of Okada Manila.

This will be the team’s first time to run on home soil since 2018. It’ll give Access Plus Racing-Okada Manila much-needed test mileage to get them up to speed after the long break. Moreover, the exercise should benefit other local riders and teams, especially those on Ducati machinery as the team shares their knowledge from years competing on an international level.

Like most motorsport activities around the world, the Philippine Superbike Championship marks its return since the start of the pandemic. It’ll run a condensed calendar for 2021 that will take place over the course of three race weekends, with double headers during each event to complete a six-round championship. All races will be held at the Clark International Speedway starting this 19th and 20th of June for the first two back-to-back legs. It then resumes in August, followed by the season finale in October.

The PSBK’s race schedule fits perfectly into Access Plus Racing-Okada Manila’s plans as the ARRC is poised to get its season underway in November where the team fully intends to enter both ASB1000 and SS600 once again.

TJ Alberto: “With the start of the PSBK now confirmed, we’re happy to announce our support for our national championship. This will also serve as a training ground for the team ahead of the Asia Road Racing Championship that was postponed due to the pandemic. Likewise, we’re very eager to share our knowledge with local teams and riders from years competing overseas.”

Toti Alberto: “Our goal over the last two years was to develop Access Plus Racing into a front-running team in the Asia Road Racing Championship. But with the current situation, we’ve had to stop all racing activities for more than a year now. We’re really thankful for the Philippine Superbike Championship as it presents a new opportunity for us to get back on track and stretch our legs. I’m excited to get back on the grid again as my last full season was way back in 2017 and will also be our first time to use Pirelli rubber since 2018. The whole team is looking forward to compete locally once again and race alongside some of the best Filipino riders in the country.”
