Round 5 of the Philippine Motul MotoIR National Championship held on October 4 and 5 at the Tarlac Circuit Hill was another exciting battle for racing glory and supremacy featuring the best motorcycle racers in the country today.

The prominent underbone, scooter, backbone and super sport riders have once again showed skills and dedication to the sport and their efforts are well appreciated by race fans who were delighted to see high quality motorcycle racing. Organized by InsideRACING and supported by the local government of Tarlac since 2022, the six-round MotoIR Championship dubbed “Road to Greatness” is presented by Motul Luzon distributor Infiniteserv International and is sanctioned by FIM NAMSSA and its affiliate USRA. Tire partners of the series are FDR, Pirelli, CST and MAXXIS while event partners are GS Battery and Honda Philippines.

The October 4 Motul 300V Sprint races were a display of prowess of the country’s top riders. Super Pole winner Leeandro Paredes of PSA Aprilia jumped the start but still managed to win the race despite the challenge of Motortrade Kawasaki WRD racer Casey Edward Clamor who unfortunately crashed while trying to retake the lead. Yamaha Racing Philippines dominated the Super Underbone Open GP Sprint Race with McKinley Kyle Paz taking an easy win over teammate and Super Pole winner April King Mascardo.

The next day, Paredes made it a perfect weekend just like in Round 4 back in September by leading and winning the Super Sport Bike GP race and the Intermediate class as well. The Super Underbone Open GP race was claimed by Yamaha Racing Philippines again with a clean podium sweep for Paz, Mascardo and EJ Sobretodo.

One of the best GP races of the day was the Super Underbone Limited GP. Paz, Mascardo, ADM Racing Team’s Kerwin Chang, Masato Fernando of Dad’s Garage 4S1M Ravenol, VS Racing Resultado’s Jolo Suba, Jakob Sablaya of Motoflash Honda and Sobretodo battled intensely for an IRGP distance of 14 laps around TCH. The four-man battle for 4th featuring heated up and pushed them forward, making it an almost 7-man battle in the lead pack by the last 3 laps! When the final lap came and all guns ablaze, there were changes in positions in both fast sector 1 and tight sector 2 of the track. In the end, it was the Chairman Masato Fernando who secured his first win since the start of the season. Sablaya was 2nd and Yamaha’s Paz settled for 3rd.

Team Wheeltek’s Gracie Reyes led from start to finish of the SSBK Women’s class. Also victorious in the fifth round were JM Malonzo of Dad’s Garage 4S1M Ravenol in the Super Underbone Open SP, Myron delos Santos of Yamaha Cardinals in the Underbone Club Race and Super Sports 200 SP, Kyro Mangosong of Yamaha Philippines in the Super Sports Bike SP and Backbone Club Race, Dad’s Garage 4S1M Ravenol rider Kervie Bergania in the Super Underbone Open GP Intermediate and teammate Nedy Duran in the Super Underbone Limited GP Intermediate, Jakob Sablaya in the Super Sports 200 GP, ADM Racing Team’s Jasper Castro in the Super Maxi Limited SP, Timothy Rojas of NCY Suntal JDO in the Super Maxi 185 Open GP, Jhareld Resultay of Pipoyworkz RR Moto Pitsbike 88 Racing in the Super Maxi 185 Open GP Intermediate category and Dale Malihan of G Racing BOM X KC99 in the Super Underbone Limited SP.

Travis Canoy Jr. was unstoppable in the F.C.C. Honda Pilipinas Dream Cup as he won three races of the weekend.

Meanwhile, in the Motul MotoIR Youth Cup, Ronald Galzote is still reigning in the Senior class and Rand Bergania topped both races of the Senior Plus category.
