FGM Kawasaki’s Rizaldy Canare

Multi-time MotoIR champion and IR Legend  Rizaldy Canare hopes to take back a win that he lost on the last lap of IRGPXIV last April 10 in the Motul MotoIR1 GP class this Sunday at Tarlac Circuit Hill (TCH).

With WRD’s Dashi Watanabe who asked him to replace Torres at IRGPXIV

The legendary MotoIR racer was a last minute replacement for Kenneth Torres in the IRGP when Torres had to take care of his father who suffered a stroke. Canare, who retired from road racing many years ago, was instantly competitive on the Kawasaki Ninja 400.

Canare led for many laps at IRGPXIV Tarlac

When his FGM Kawasaki team mate Watanabe and early leader Relativo tangled on the first lap, Canare found himself battling for the lead with TCH specialust Fritssy Claveria of Team SEC Motosupply. Canare was able to fend him off and confortably led Claveria up until the last lap when Claveria managed to sneak up behind him on the last lap to take the coveted IRGP victory.

Canare was recently victorious in motocross

” I only raced motocross recently where you just needed to protect your lead until the finish and raced IRGP with the same mentality.  It was a mistake! I forgot that at IRGP level you need to be fierce until the end because nobody will easily give up the win. Next race I know better,” said Canare.

Still, an IRGP podium was an impressive result for Canare and sparked a new fire in him to race competitively again. He will also be eligible for the Legends Awards.

He will again face Claveria on Sunday’s Motul GP and two young guns Sobretodo and Dominguiano who will both race in the top MotoIR1 GP category for the first time.
