Best Value 2020 Kawasaki Z400

The Kawasaki Z400 is basically a naked bike version of the Ninja 400 sportbike. It has the aggressive Z styling of its bigger naked bikes.

At only P279,000 SRP, it is the cheapest and best value multi-cylinder sub-400cc Japanese big bike you can buy today in the Philippine market.

Despite the relatively low price, the Z400 is is well engineered and is equipped with high technology features not often found in this price range.

Kawasaki transferred its Ninja 400 sportbike engine into a naked chassis. The 399cc parallel twin produces 52.3 hp@ 10,000 rpm and 38 N.m of torque at 8000 rpm.

Like all of Kawasaki’s naked bikes, it uses a lightweight steel trellis frame for rigidity and lightweight handling. It weighs only a 165 kgs (lighter than the old Ninja 300!), light enough for novice riders to confidently handle.

It is equipped with a 41mm non-adjustable front fork and rear Uni-Trak swingarm with five-way preload adjustability shock. 

Brakes are a single 310mm front disc squeezed by a two-piston Nissin caliper, and a single rear 220mm disc squeezed by a two-piston caliper. 

The other unexpected upscale features of the Z400 are many.

The Z400 has a close-ratio six-speed transmission with a Assist/Slipper Clutch features which lightens the clutch pull and decreases rear wheel skids during engine braking.

It also has Antilock Brake System (ABS) is standard for better braking control and the 17-inch five-spoke cast wheels were designed with input from the Kawasaki World Superbike team.  The tires are 110/70 up front, and 150/60 out back.

Also, the Z400 features a gear position indicator stacked vertically between the new large analog tach and LCD instrumentation display. Meanwhile, LED headlights and taillight are standard.

Like in all naked Kawasaki naked bikes, the Z400 features upright styling with a relaxed rider triangle. The handlebars are wide, and the aluminum footpegs are positioned more forward than the sportbikes.
