After an impressive 2nd Free Practice yesterday, expectations were high for our very own McKinley Kyle Paz of Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Moto2 team for today’s two Qualifying Practices.

Yesterday, Paz finished in the Top 10 for the first time in only his second race weekend in the European championships. He was also ahead of his team mate as well as riders from Spain, Italy, Germany and Japan. The team’s continuos effort to adjust the Kalex Moto2 GP bike to make him more comfortable on it was rewarded and Paz ended the day happy and confident.

In the first 10 minutes of QTT1, Paz was already in the top 11 with time of 1 min 47.338s. After not improving for many laps the team called him in with 27 mins to go.

He was out again with 18 mins to go and was slowly making progress but with 10 minutes to go, Paz made an error and fortunately did not crash. But this has ruined his next three laps and dropped his times in the high 55s.

He decided to pit in again with 6 mins to go and was out back after just 2 mins in the pits after the team installed a softer compound tire, just enough time left for for 2 flying laps. By this time the others had improved and he went down to P13. He managed to beat the checquered flag for one last flying lap and did a terrific Sector 1 time but unfortunately he overshot a corner in in Sector 2.

“Sumubok ng softer compound. Pero may problema siya sa bike, hirap sya i- liko today. Nag overshoot! Ganda sana ng last lap,” said Mr. Jordan Cornista

“Yesterday he improved his time during the afternoon sessions. So he’s looking forward to do the same for this afternoon’s Q2,” Mr.Cornista added.

P13 is still a very good result and a big improvement over his first QTT session in Barcelona. QTT2 will be in a couple of hours.
