Cebu’s pride Christwil Villanueva debuted at the Asia Production class of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship last April 10-12, the season opener of the series held at Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

Villanueva raced under Victor Racing Team which aims to achieve a solid performance throughout the 2026 season with dedication and strong teamwork. The private team works hard to compete at a high level.

The Filipino had a hard crash in Practice 1 and Practice 2 but managed to get up and was safe. Because of the crash, he did not manage to qualify to race but luckily, the decision was changed and Villanueva was allowed to participate in Race 1 and 2. He redeemed himself in Race 1 wherein he was able to finish the race in P19 starting from P29. For Race 2, Villanueva started at P28 and ended up at P26.

Despite the challenging weekend wherein he faced technical issues with the bike from practice all the way through qualifying, Christwil pushed through and finished both races. He will use his learning experience to improve in his next races. His father also advised him to enjoy the race and have fun, reminding his son that this is just the beginning and he should take things one at a time in his international racing career.

Villanueva is supported by Watanabe Riding Development and Moto Junior Talent Team.
