This is the latest Honda Ruckus Project built by Fatty Tires Custom Bikes. The scoot is owned by Jean Anthony T. Veran, a chicken farmer based in Bacood, Santa Mesa, Manila. The stress and anxiety that the pandemic brought made him look for something to get himself busy with during the lockdown and this was how the “Ruck Bob” project started.

“This is my very first scooter/motorcycle, and I bought it as a scrap during the start of the pandemic lockdown. The challenge was bringing it back to life in full glory. I really love bobber motorcycles, but I hate the clutch and the shifter of manual motorcycles. Considering the appeal of the ruckus plus it is uncommon here in the Philippines, that’s why I decided to pursue the “Ruck Bob” project, a fusion of the Bobber concept with the Ruckus iconic tubular steel frame design,” Jean shared.

To make his vision come to life, Jean collaborated with Fatty Tires Custom Bikes and their full technological arsenal and expertise headed by Custom Moto-Auto builder extraordinaire Bryan Ubaldo. A wide array of the parts used on this project were all custom-made/fabricated in-house at the Fatty Tires Custom Bikes shop starting with the super wide custom CNC made aluminum mag wheels that are 12×4.5 (front) and 12×8 (rear) custom-painted to a titanium finish. The mags are wrapped in Shinko 100×70 (front) and140x70 (rear) tires. The plastic engine covers were also custom hydro dipped for the carbon fiber effect. The original Ruckus frame was reconstructed to achieve the exotic look. The swing arm extension was also custom CNC made of high grade aluminum. To achieve the Bobber look, a custom seat was made wrapped in crocodile hide. The lightened disk rotors are also custom-made together with the alloy brake caliper brackets. The scoot sports LED retro-styled headlights and tail lights. It features custom-machined outer tube front suspension, Rizoma brake levers, Stage8 CF side mirrors, Leovince exhaust system, Earls steel braided brake lines and MTB handlebars and clamp. The engine was also upgraded to F.I. (fuel injection).

“When the scoot was finally finished, the most satisfying aspect of the project knew that I was riding that “one” bike that everybody’s looking at, in the traffic stop,” Jean stated.

“First off, thanks to the BIG G up there for giving me a brave heart and long patience to pursue this project. A big fat thanks to Sir Bryan Ubaldo and team Fatty Tires Custom Bikes for bringing what I had in mind, to life. Mom and Dad, thank you for the love and support. Thank you to Minjung, my wife, for being understanding, supportive, and bearing with the noise downstairs when I am tuning and my son Lu for being proud of his Dada. Big thanks to Sir Al Camba and Sir Arnel Santos-Yñigo for giving us a chance to be featured in InsideRACING Magazine. My Dad would be in for a big surprise when he buys his next issue of your mag and he sees my pics in it. (Yeah, my Dad is a regular reader of InsideRACING Magazine. He loves cars though he doesn’t know how to drive. I love you Dad!),” Jean expressed.
