Honda Philippines, Inc. invited members of the motoring media and moto vloggers for a ride to try out the all-new PCX last August 29.

Dubbed “Honda PCXceptional Ride”, the event started out with the registration of participants at the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) followed by mandatory checking of each rider’s blood pressure if they were well fitted for the ride. A short welcome speech by Ms. Apple Magalang, Motorcycle Planning Department Manager and briefing by Mr. Alex Gregorio, Supervisor for Honda’s Safety Riding Promotions who was also one of the road marshals for that day was followed by short stretching and exercises for the ride participants.

After the briefing, we were instructed to go down to endorse the motorcycle unit that we will be using. Half of the units lent that day were Standard version and half were Roadsync version. All riders got the chance to use both units so if you got the Standard version on the way to Tanay, you will use the Roadsync version going back to HSDC. We had a photo op then 3 warm-up laps around HSDC before riding out.

It was a Friday so we really got to test out the all-new PCX in real-life traffic scenarios in the city heading our way to Tanay. Good thing that the PCX (both old and new versions) is ideal for the traffic stop-and-go situations as it has a comfortable seat, balanced weight and ease of use by nature of being a scooter.

We stopped at Shell Boso-Boso gas station for a quick break and refreshments. This is also the part where the twisties of Marilaque starts, so it’s all-out fun! We still had ride marshals in front and a sweeper in the rear and also, we were accompanied by a car with the Honda company doctor in it for emergencies. And yes! We were encouraged by the ride marshal to do “bankings” in the twisties as long as we ride within our abilities.

We arrived at Café Cecilia around lunchtime. There was a program where the Honda executives discussed the changes and improvements of the New PCX Standard and Roadsync versions. Games and raffles were held after the program. We then headed back to HSDC again to return the bikes.

Short review on the all-new PCX:
The Honda PCX has already established its name as one of the most sought-after Honda scooters in the market. I could almost find one or two every time I go out whether here on the metro or somewhere in a province, I’m sure I will see one on the road. That alone is a testament of its appeal and dependability.

The riding feel of the bike is basically identical to the first versions of the PCX. Well-balanced, comfortable, mid-sized touring scooter, handlebar reach and riding position are relaxed. What really made the all-new PCX different is the subtle changes and upgrades from the previous models. I particularly like that it has now a handlebar cover whereas the old versions are sporting a naked type handlebar. It really accentuates that the PXC brand is a touring/cruising scooter.
The new PCX (both standard and Roadsync version) feels up-to-date as they’ve added DRL (Daytime Running Lights). It has been the craze lately on both motorcycle and automotive areas that if your unit has DRL, it’s modern.
Changes like the new footboard design and pillion footrest design are noticeable and add to the overall appearance of the new model.
For the Roadsync version, perhaps the biggest change was equipping the bike with a TFT display panel and the Roadsync Software which before can only be found in high-end Honda big bikes such as the X-ADV, XL750 Transalp, Rebel 1100 and others. This variant is also equipped with the HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) and gives you more safety when riding.

The Roadsync version of the PCX also has a rear shock that has a sub-tank and yes, you can feel a slight difference in terms of bounce over the standard shock of the standard version. Bronze colored rims also add to the appeal and premium-ness of the variant. The USB-C charger is also an upgrade from the standard USB-A as to more and more devices and phones nowadays rely on USB-C charging bricks and adaptor so there’s no need to buy a separate cable for that.
Overall, the all-new PCX delivers enhanced riding experience and comfort and combined with its dependability, it is tough to beat.
