Famous Ninja Colours Return: Looks that Illustrate the Pursuit of High Performance

Kawasaki Motors Philippines has released special, limited edition color & graphics that aim to replicate the legendary livery of the 1991 Ninja ZXR-7 which was well known for its tri-colored shades during its successful stints in winning 12 AMA superbike championships and winning the FIM Endurance World Championships three years in a row.

Celebration of 40 Years of Ninja Heritage

The 40th anniversary of the Ninja brand celebrates the launch of the 1984 GPZ900R, which was the first model to receive the now iconic “Ninja” moniker. Made famous through its use on the film “Top Gun”, since its launch, the word Ninja has been synonymous with speed and power. In celebration of its sports riding heritage, Kawasaki’s main flagship models, the Ninja ZX-4RR, the Ninja ZX-6R and the Ninja ZX-10R. These are available with limited stocks only, starting the month March 2024 at all Kawasaki Krib nationwide. In 1984, Kawasaki launched its new flagship model, the GPZ900R. This was the first model with the “Ninja” moniker – a name that has been passed down and continues to be used on Kawasaki full-fairing sport models today. Of the current day Ninja models, the Ninja ZX series represents Kawasaki’s challenge to develop innovative technology.

gpz Between 1991 and 1993, Kawasaki’s iconic factory machine, the ZXR-7, won three FIM Endurance World Championship titles, and is remembered for its distinctive three-color livery. Kawasaki’s spirit of challenge and relentless pursuit of innovation on the racetrack continues to flow though all of today’s Ninja ZX series models, including the Ninja ZX-10R now competing in the Superbike World Championship. The colours of the Ninja 40th Anniversary Edition models are based on the 1989 ZXR series that mimicked the colours and graphics of the race-winning ZXR-7.

zxr-7 In 2024, to celebrate the Ninja’s 40th anniversary, models with the colours and graphics of the original ZXR series, harkening back to Kawasaki’s racing victories in the late 1980s and 1990s, will be available.

Changes from Base Models To accurately reproduce the original colour scheme of the time, the blue used was newly recreated for these models.

ninja 40th 1 On top of the fuel tank is a 40th anniversary emblem, designed in a style similar to a championship sticker and reminiscent of the 1980s racing scene.

Fuel Tank Emblem The Ninja 40th Anniversary models feature fuel tanks with a special three-colour design.

 

ninja 40th 3 The “Kawasaki” logo on the side fairing is positioned with the ideal size and balance for each model. ninja 40th 4 The displacement numbers featured on the tail cowl were newly produced based on the font used in 8o-s and 90s. ninja 40th 5 The Ninja ZX-10R/ZX-6R front fork outer tubes are painted gold, inspired by the ZXR400/250 front forks. The new gold is a more current, vivid colour than used originally.
