The first InsideRACING-SUZUKI Track Day held last September 7 at the Carmona Race Track was considered a success by many with more than a hundred riders enjoying a full day of safe racetrack action.
Most of the approximately 180 entries were first timers on the race
tracks. They came together with their riding friends and club members.
Riders from as far as Ilocos came and everybody appreciated the
organization and safety amenities that were provided to them while they
rode around the racetrack. They also deemed the P300 fee very reasonable
considering they also got free IR stickers and magazines. Only a few
riders were not allowed to ride due to safety gear requirements.
Owners of Suzuki motorcycles appreciated Suzuki’s support as they only
paid P100 entry fee per session. Because of this, many Suzuki riders rode
in multiple sessions thereby maximizing their time. There were noticeably
more Raider motorcycles during the day which came from different clubs.
A lot of riders were also able to test ride the different Suzuki
motorcycles available during the day including the recently launched new
Suzuki Shogun PRO 125 and Shogun R 125. Those who took the test rides
immediately noticed the higher performing engines of the new model.
Meanwhile, race fans were delighted to see in action and meet in person
Suzuki’s star racers namely Jolet Jao, Dashi Watanabe, Iraq Bauzon and
Paul Mark Doblada. Jao, who came in the afternoon, obliged to the many
autographs and picture taking with the star-struck fans that saw him ride
for the first time.
The day started with a wet first session but the afternoon sessions were
hot and dry allowing the riders to go faster. While there were regular
racers from other teams who joined to give support to the event,
approximately 80% of the riders actually rode on a real race track for the
first time. They were impressed with the experience felt it was safer and
fun as compared to riding on the streets. Most if not all promised to
comeback for the next IR Track Day on Oct. 5
