Date posted on December 15, 2021
After a historic PSBK weekend last Sunday when TJ Alberto won his first National title to become the first Filipino father and son champions together with Toti Alberto (PSBK Champion in 1999), the Alberto family added another one in the history books today with younger Troy Alberto .
Troy Alberto will be the first Filipino to compete in a World Championship Class race series. Alberto was confirmed to ride in the 2022 FIM World Supersport 300 with RT Motorsport by SKM- Kawasaki.
The World Supertsport 300 is the junior feeder class in the production-based FIM World Superbike Championships. It was created in 2017 and us equivalent to the Moto3 class in MotoGP.
Troy will be riding for the official Kawasaki Europe team that won races and finished runner-up in the world championships in 2021 with Tom Booth-Amos. This means that for the first time, we might see a Filipino actually fighting for a road racing world championship!
” Happy to announce that in 2022 I will be racing in the WorldSBK World Supersport 300 Championship with Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki! It will be my first experience to compete in a world championship and I’m so excited to race with the team. Thank you to everyone supporting,” said Troy on his official social media page.
Congratulations and best of luck Troy!

Rob Vennegoor – team co-owner: ‘Since Troy’s brother TJ was in the WorldSBK paddock a few years I always kept close contact with the Alberto family. In that time Troy was contracted to Honda in the Asian Talent Cup and Asian Road Race Championships, but I saw Troy’s level growing year by year and we are grateful that we finally can work together. Troy is a very fast rider and it’s also special to bring Asian talented riders into the WorldSBK paddock.’
