Historic First FIM Asia Cup of Road Racing in the Philippines a Resounding Success

Last December 9-11, 2022, the Tarlac Circuit Hill saw highly skilled riders in different parts of Asia battle for their nation’s glory. It was indeed an epic moment especially for the Philippines, as it was the first time for the country to host the FIM Asia Cup of Road Racing race event. Held together with the 15th InsideRACING Grand Prix, it was a memorable experience not just for the racers but also for the race fans as they witnessed high quality racing action and passion and at the same time sportsmanship.

The FIM ACRR had two races featuring Yamaha Sniper race bikes. Another international category was the FIM Scooter Challenge which utilized Yamaha Aerox scooters in two races as well. Team Philippines (NAMSSA) represented by Dustin Esguerra and Garry Cañeda Jr. emerged as the champion in the FIM ACRR. Coming in second was Team Chinese-Taipei (CTMS) with riders Bo-Yao Zhan and Yung-Shun Tsai. Third placer was Team Japan (MFJ) which fielded in young riders Buntaro Kurihara and Raiku Hasegawa. Team India (FMSCI) whose riders were Mathana Kumar and Sarvesh Hanumannavar bagged the fourth place overall. Teethat Pusang and Nontanan Kanthi delivered a fifth place result for Team Thailand (FMSCT). Sixth placer was Team Sri Lanka (FMSSL) bannered by brothers Nikila Pathirage and Vinula Pathirage. In the FIM Scooter Challenge, the Filipinos capitalized again on its home track advantage with victories in both races taken by the host country courtesy of Rain del Mundo and John Emerson Inguito. Chinese-Taipei placed second overall again while India ranked third. Sri Lanka was fourth overall followed by Thailand and then Japan.   It was a sweet victory for the Philippines which won the FIM Asia President’s Cup and Nation’s Cup. Race fans who trooped to the Tarlac Circuit Hill as well as the live stream spectators greatly appreciated the FIM ACRR and Asia Scooter Challenge races as the riders showcased Asian racing prowess.  

The FIM ACRR in the Philippines was organized by InsideRACING in partnership with NAMSSA. The event was supported by Motul and FDR Tires distributed locally by Infiniteserv International, Yamaha Motor Philippines and Racing Boy. The province of Tarlac headed by Governor Susan Yap was in full support as well of the international race event.
