Ilagan, Isabela – The Provincial Government of Isabela, in partnership with Honda Philippines, Inc. and motorcycle dealer, Motorali — have gathered close to five hundred (500) motorcycle riders and university students on the opening day of the riding safety caravan in the province of Isabela.

The Riding Safety Caravan started with theory input and practical riding instructions, which emphasized key items crucial to the motorcycle-riding Isabelenos. These include donning of proper riding gears, applying riding safety techniques and observance of proper attitude when interacting with other road users.

Gov. Grace Padaca of Isabela emphasized that mobility is important among today’s youth. That is why formation of values on road courtesy is needed now more than ever.

“ Isabela saw the upsurge of motorcycle users in the recent years, which likewise saw the sudden rise of motorcycle accidents in province. We deem it the responsibility of the Provincial Government to protect its constituents – specially the youth, who have grown dependent on motorcycles for mobility. Road safety education is truly relevant at this time and age, “ remarked Hon. Grace Padaca , Governor of Isabela, during the opening ceremonies.

The Riding Safety Caravan has made the rounds of twenty-five (25) schools and universities in Cauayan, Ilagan, Roxas, San Mateo and Alicia towns. For this purpose, the Honda’s values formation program called TEENSMART is now being conducted to some 20,000 students of Isabela in preparation for their roles as responsible drivers in the future.

Attending a rider training of this kind for the first time, a student from a state university shared, “ This is a notable activity of the provincial government, Honda and our school. I have been wanting to get a motorbike, but I am somewhat scared. It looks unsafe and difficult to control. This seminar taught me that there is a better alternative and safer way to enjoy motorcycle riding.”
