A different winner emerged at the 4th leg of the Pirelli Philippine Superbike Championships last August 3 at the Clark International Speedway as polesitter Marvin Mangulabnan of HGM-Aprilia won the 8-lap wet race and topped the Open class. His win more than made up for his heartbreak crash in the previous round which he also took pole position. In the race he displayed a calculated pace in the wet track that others could not match. Rounds 1, 2 and 3 victor Dashi Watanabe of Granstar-Aprilia placed second despite a hot start which saw him taking the holeshot of the race. Ducati Philippines-Bacchus’ Raniel Resuello finished third. NHK-Racewell’s Rizaldy Canare was fourth and was the highest finisher among the Intermediate class. The Ducati Philippines-Bacchus father and son tandem of TJ and Toti Alberto also had a great showing. TJ was the winner in the Novice class while his dad Toti was triumphant in the Master category. The Pirelli PSBK is sanctioned by the Superbike Racing Association (SBRA). More detailed reports and photos to follow in InsideRACING and TORQUE magazines.
