IR Update: Mascardo Third in Practice 1 as Round 4 of the Suzuki Asian Challenge Takes Place in Indonesia

The Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia is the venue for the fourth round of this year’s Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC), one of the race classes of the Asia Road Racing Championship.

Riders had their first practice session today, August 5, and Team Suzuki Pilipinas rider April King Mascardo ranked third in Practice 1. Mascardo’s best lap time in the first practice was 2:01.307s. The other two riders of Team Suzuki Pilipinas, Mario Borbon Jr. was eighth with his 2:02.464s while Eane Jaye Sobretodo was 10th with his best lap time of 2:02.978s. It is expected that our riders will have improved lap times in the next practice session and hopefully in the qualifying and races.

Out of 15 racers, fastest rider in the first practice session was Muhd Rozaliman Zakaria of Malaysia with a time of 2:00.516s. Other riders competing are from Indonesia, India, Singapore, Japan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Nepal.

Tomorrow, August 6, participants in the SAC will have their Practice 2 and Qualifying.

Team Suzuki Pilipinas riders are accompanied by team manager Mr. Noel Villapando of Suzuki Philippines, Ms. Edelyn Yanilla of Suzuki Philippines and mechanics Mr. Bobby Mencias, Mr. Manuel Chien and Mr. Rico Cagnaan.

So far, Team Suzuki Pilipinas managed to get to the podium in the past three rounds of the SAC. The team had its first pole position, race win and 1-2 finish in the first race of the third round held in Suzuka, Japan last June.
