LRT-2 East extension Aimed to Operate by the End of April

Commuters coming from the east side of Metro Manila will hopefully soon experience a more convenient way to travel as two(2) new additional LRT-2 East Extension Project stations are on its final stages and expected  to start operations on the 27th of April 2021.

LRTA (Light Rail Transit Authority) reported that as of the  31st of January 2021,  the LRT-2 East Extension Project is already at 93.42% completion.

The two (2) new stations- Marikina Station (front of Sta. Lucia and Robinsons) and the Antipolo Station (in front of SM Masinag) will conduct its soft opening on the 26th of April and will immediately start operations the following day. It will serve passengers from Recto, Manila to Masinag, Antipolo (and back) in an estimated travel tile of only 40 minutes (one way)  and can accomodate an additional 80,000 passengers boosting the rails overall daily ridership to 240,000 passengers.

“In less than two months po, mag-ooperate na po ‘yung ating dalawang bagong istasyon. Ongoing po ngayon yan at pina-fast track na po natin yung trabaho natin diyan para matupad po natin yung target na April 26 na inauguration.” said LRTA spokesperson Atty.  Hernando Cabrera
