He is back! Multiple world champion Marc Marquez of the Repsol Honda Team finished an impressive 3rd fastest in Free Practice 1 for this weekend’s Portugese GP at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal, the third round of the 2021 MotoGP World Championships.

It has been 265 days since Marquez last competed in an official MotoGP session, as far back as July 25, 2020. The Spanish rider has been sidelined since due to an injury and has come back to the championship for the first time only this weekend.

He was followed in fourth with his team mate Pol Espargaro. Fastest in the session was Mobster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Viñales followed by Ecstar Suzuki’s Alex Rins.

Marquez registered a best of 1 min 42.378 secs or only 0.251 secs slower than Viñales.
