Kymco Maxiscoot Club of the Philippines (KMCP) had their first official Breakfast Ride yesterday, January 6.

Breakfast rides are not new among Pinoy riders in the last few years, but now these type of small group activities are heavily promoted and deeply encouraged by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to push and support local tourism via motorcycles or Motourismo.

Motorcycling is a social distancing activity wether for travel or leisure as riders are separated during the ride and are wrapped in protective gears, gloves and helmet akin to PPE’s. It favorably complies to all the current health and safety protocols.

The big delegation of 32 people including 28 riders piloting AK550s & XcitingS400is  were accompied by 4 of their wives. There were some newbie and first timers in the group as well. The ride was organized by one of KMCP’s chef member Herbie Lim. They also have a sub group where the goal is to discover and support new places to eat.

The first group from the South area met up at the Dona Soledad Shell Station beside the Skyway office at around 6:00am and departed at exactly 6:30am. This first group started from SLEX and was able to enjoy the newly opened Skyway Stage 3 connector. They arrived at the NLEX Exit only after 40 minutes while riding at a relaxed pace. This new NLEX-SLEX connector, when fully operational, will surely encourage more riders from both ends of Metro Manila to regularly ride and explore without the hassle of traversing EDSA traffic.

They were joined by their clubmates from the North at their 2nd meeting place  which was at the Petron Station. After 20 minutes of rest, some chatting and the important Safety Briefing and Welcome Remarks by the group’s admin Mr. Neil Santos, the big group took off at around  7:30am for a  90 kilometer leisurely ride to Mabalacat Pampanga via NLEX and SCTEX.

No doubt, the group were pampered with luxury and comfort provided by their Kymco maxiscoots as the AK550 and Xciting400S were designed for these touring rides in mind. They have more than ample power for cruising at high speeds, fantastic wind protection for less fatigue and comfortable seats for both the rider and the passenger. Both models also have ample storage for whatever items they need for the trip.

The group’s final destination was the Amante Steak and Ribs. There they had a wonderful late breakfast of salad, roastbeef and BBQ ribs (physical distancing observed off course!) while bonding with each other. Aside from the actual ride, the breakfast itself is what makes these kind of rides such a joy as each enjoys mostly wholesome fun and bantering reinforcing their camaraderie.

After the happy bonding moment and sumptous meal, the group started gearing up at around 11:00 a.m and headed home with some staying in the area to attend Flight Pilot Training. Most arrived at their respective destinations at around 1 in the afternoon.

We enjoyed the scenery going North since were only doing 100-120kph during the ride. It was our 1st group breakfast ride this 2021, and we hope to do more  safe rides this year,” said a KMCP’s Randy Cuevas.

We have also a  sub group “Ride Chefs” for members na nag hahanap ng mga bago or magagandang kainan, puro food trip ride po hanap namin, ” said Xciting owner Diodio De Leon.

I own one of the first batch of Xciting 400i in the country way back 2014 and a Super 8 kaya loyal ako sa Kymco. Tried and tested ko na ang Xciting ko having finished the BOSS Ironman Endurance event twice already in addition to a Philippine Loop and 5 times North Loop.

After so many rides all over the  South and North it already has now travelled over  70,000 kilometers with  no engine or  major  repairs.  I even crashed twice during my endurance runs to avoid dogs but the chassis is still straight! Sobrang tibay talaga! Ayaw din umangkas ng misis ko ng malayuang byahe pag hindi Xciting ang dala kasi para daw siya naka upo lang sa sofa! Kaya I am planning to upgrade to an AK550 soon! But never ko na po ibebenta mga Kymco scooters ko,” he added.

Great ride KMCP!
