Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP have taken the covers off their new 2025 challengers as they become Yamaha’s ‘second factory team’ – ready to roll out of pitlane with all-new machinery and the new line-up of Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira. The purple with which the team took the riders’ crown last year remains a key element, with some added blue in line with Yamaha’s 2025 theme – the ‘Blue Shift’. What do you think?

The riders are new, the machinery is new and the liveries are new too, but much of the team remains the same as last season. However, among the new additions are two new crew chiefs: Giacomo Guidotti, who will work alongside Miller, and Luca Ferraccioli, who will support Oliveira.

Jack Miller: “I am so excited to finally start the season. The test we had in Barcelona in November was just to dip our toes in the water, but now the real work begins. I have had a lot of contact with the guys while they were in Japan working on the M1 and from what I have been told we have a lot of new and interesting ideas and parts to try out. The guys seem very excited about this new adventure with Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP and the same can be said for me. I can’t wait to get on the bike and work hard, trying to make the steps in the right direction to be ready from the first race in Thailand.

“Coming back to Pramac Racing after a few years is fantastic for me. You all know that I have a great relationship with Paolo Campinoti and he, as well as Gino and all the other guys, welcomed me back with open arms. It’s a new project for most of us, but it’s so much nicer to start a new challenge like this surrounded by so many familiar faces, rather than having to learn new names.

“I feel whole and truly at home, and let’s hope I have as good a time now, if not better, than in my previous years here.”

Miguel Oliveira: “The start of a new season is always a special moment, and I am highly motivated for this new challenge with Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP. The team’s achievement last year in winning the MotoGP Riders Championship was a perfect demonstration of how dedication, hard work, and passion can make all the difference and lead to the ultimate success. This team is exceptionally competitive, and with Yamaha’s strong support, I am confident that we can embark on a long-term project that will achieve significant success in a relatively short time.

“I am thrilled to see how this challenge unfolds and can’t wait to get on the bike and begin work during the winter tests in Malaysia and Thailand. My goal is to be as prepared as possible for the start of the season. I am incredibly grateful to Paolo Campinoti, Pramac Racing, and Yamaha for this opportunity, and I promise to give them my absolute best.

“The past two seasons have been tough for me, both physically and mentally. Recovering from serious injuries is always challenging, as it takes time to regain consistency and rhythm. Having a strong connection with your crew is also fundamental, and in the short time I’ve spent with Luca Ferraccioli, my new track engineer, I already feel that we have great chemistry. This harmony will be key as we work together to make the most of the season ahead.”

Paolo Campinoti, Team Principal: “A few months have passed since the most significant and glorious day in the history of Prima Pramac Racing – the conquest of the MotoGP Riders World Championship with Jorge Martin. Now, here we are in Malaysia, ready to face a new and exciting challenge.
“The 2024 season was thrilling, allowing us to write an important chapter in the history of motorcycling. However, it was also a complicated and challenging year – one that marked the end of a 20-year partnership following a long and remarkable journey.

“In every person’s or company’s life, there comes a time to take a new path in search of fresh challenges and inspiration. For us, that moment begins now, with the birth of the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team. This marks the beginning of our journey as a second Factory Team for a manufacturer that has made the history of our sport, as we prepare to face the upcoming seasons of the MotoGP World Championship.

“Being selected as a partner by Yamaha is confirmation of the hard work our team has put in over the past few seasons. We’ve grown from a junior team into one capable of competing for and winning world titles. Four consecutive years as the best independent team, and most notably, the 2023 MotoGP Team World Championship and the 2024 MotoGP Riders World Championship, are testament to our abilities and professionalism. These successes now position us for an even higher status as we enter the 2025 season.

“First, I would like to thank everyone who is part of this team, starting with Gino Borsoi and the other team leaders, all the way down to the mechanics who have chosen to take on this new challenge. This wasn’t a foregone conclusion. To see the entire team, aside from a few natural changes, immediately place their trust in this new project has not only strengthened our sense of belonging but has also become a source of pride and a commitment to strive for even greater achievements.

“I would also like to express our gratitude to Prima Assicurazioni, our title sponsor, who has supported us through our vertical growth over the past few years. Their contribution has been key to Prima Pramac Racing’s success, and together we have created a winning partnership that will continue in the coming seasons.

“Yamaha is demonstrating a strong commitment to returning to the top of motorcycling, as evidenced by the improved performance in the final races of the last World Championship. The opportunity to double our efforts on the track will help us close the gap more quickly. The deep and open collaboration at every level, along with the shared vision we’ve started to develop in these early weeks, fills me with optimism for the future.

“Finally, I would like to welcome back Jack Miller. In the three years he spent with us, Jack has not only grown and matured but also helped foster a stronger team spirit. I am confident that the experience he has gained will be invaluable in the development of the M1.

“And I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Miguel Oliveira, an intelligent, talented and fast rider who has been held back in recent seasons by injuries that have prevented him from showing his full potential. I look forward to seeing him in action in our colours.

Paolo Pavesio, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor Racing: “To help Yamaha accelerating our MotoGP come-back, we thought we didn’t just need ‘a team’, we needed ‘the best team’. And the best, talking about independent teams, is Pramac Racing.

“As soon we started talking with Paolo Campinoti and the people at Pramac Racing, we felt we were sharing strong values: teamwork, ‘the Spirit of Challenge’, and our passion for motorsports. Together, these values drive us towards a shared objective: providing the best possible package to our riders.

“To achieve this, the Yamaha-Pramac set-up is different than any other collaboration in the past: Pramac is not a satellite team, instead they are a ‘partner’ whose contribution is crucial to achieving our shared objectives. Pramac is fully committed to being a key player in our plan, and since the very beginning of the collaboration between Yamaha and Pramac Racing, everyone has worked in perfect harmony, both on the MotoGP as well as on the Moto2 projects.”I cannot wait to see those first feelings becoming facts and results on track.”

Gino Borsoi, Team Director: “The partnership between Prima Pramac Racing and Yamaha, which establishes us as an official extended MotoGP team, is both exciting and challenging. This collaboration provides an opportunity to work with one of the most prestigious and successful manufacturers in the world. Yamaha’s impressive record – eight riders and five manufacturer World Championships won in MotoGP since 2004, along with ten rider and nine manufacturer titles in the 500cc class and numerous others in smaller categories – underscores its greatness.

“Given the results we have achieved in recent seasons, this alliance with Yamaha is a strategic step forward. From my experience in the initial weeks of working together, I am confident this partnership will enable Yamaha to reclaim its position at the pinnacle of MotoGP.

“This project is particularly intriguing, especially in this inaugural year, as it requires a shift in mindset. Our focus transitions from competing to win races to dedicating ourselves to development and collaboration, with the primary objective of getting Yamaha back on the podium as quickly as possible. To this end, we have selected two talented riders from different backgrounds to maximize the flow of information and feedback, helping the team – and Yamaha – develop a balanced bike that suits a variety of riding styles.

“For Jack Miller, this marks a return to a team he knows well, and I anticipate a swift reintegration process. Miguel Oliveira, on the other hand, brings a contrasting technical and stylistic approach, which will expand the bike’s development potential. This diversity will be instrumental in achieving our goals.

“Considering the investments made by both Prima Pramac Racing and Yamaha, along with our commitment to close collaboration and information sharing, I am confident that this partnership will pave the way for a return to competitiveness, enabling us to fight for race victories and, ultimately, the World Championship.”
