Paredes Aims to Recover after Tough TVS Championship Season Opener

2025 Motul MotoIR Super Sport Bike GP champion Leeandro Paredes continues to represent the country in the TVS Racing International Championship, a race series held during the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship rounds. This is the sophomore year of Paredes in the series and placed 7th overall out of 29 riders in the 2025 season.

The opening round for 2026 took place at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on April 11 and 12. The TVS Racing International Championship features young riders racing on board the TVS Apache RR310. Paredes is the lone Filipino in the series and he competes with racers from Malaysia, India, Republic of South Africa, Malaysia, Portugal, Japan, Colombia and Indonesia this year.

Paredes was P11 at the starting grid and had a good Race 1 performance with a P7 finish and a best lap time of 2:23.839s. Indian rider Sarthak Chavan, the winner of Race1, had a best lap time of 2:23.241s. Paredes felt he could have done better and was determined to push more in Race 2 the next day.

The start of Race 2 was delayed because of the rainy weather. It was a tough wet race indeed with several riders crashing and unable to finish the race. Unfortunately, Paredes was one of them and he was out early in the race. Malaysian rider Ramdan Rosli won Race 2.

“Pushed too hard early trying to close the gap, and ended up crashing on the last turn of lap one. Sorry to everyone who supported me. I’m disappointed, but I’ll come back stronger,” shared Paredes who acknowledged the support of Pops Shock Attack, BOM Rangsit, Watanabe Riding Development, HypeSelective, Partida Sports Bar, Motoclassy Main, InsideRACING Magazine, National Motorcycle Sports & Safety Association, USRA and FIM ASIA in his international campaign. Paredes is currently 11th in the point standings after the first round.

Round 2 is scheduled from May 8-10 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand and Paredes is looking forward to better performance and results for the country.
