McKinley Kyle Paz continues to get closer to the dream of racing in MotoGP. After being the Underbone 150cc champion in 2019 and racing briefly in the 600cc class of the ARRC in 2020, the “Wonder Boy” achieves another milestone as he is the first Filipino to race in the FIM Repsol CEV Moto2 class.

Yamaha’s commitment and support to Kyle is amazing. The Filipino pride is racing for the VR46 Mastercamp Team in CEV Moto2 and this is a great opportunity for Kyle to show his talent. He is accompanied by Yamaha Motor Philippines’ Mr. Jordan Cornista.

We talked to Kyle weeks before he went to Italy and then to Spain where the first round is being held this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Kyle shared his thoughts, preparations, goals and his message to his fans.

IR: Tingin mo ano pa yung kailangan mong gawin for CEV Moto2. Napakahirap, napakalayong lugar and malaking pagsubok ito for you.

Siyempre mahirap manalo agad.  Nagse-set ka siguro ng small steps. Ano yung first step natin sa unang karera?

Kyle: “Ang target ko po is kahit makasabay lang po ako sa group, kahit pang ilan and kahit anong group po. Siyempre first time ko po sa motor, first time ko po sila makakalaro. Makatapos ng race po ang pinakamahalaga.”

Kyle acknowledges his fans and is always grateful for their support.

With the type of race machines and the racetracks he will conquer in the FIM Repsol CEV Moto2 we believe Kyle will get 50% of MotoGP experience. We are very proud of this rider from Taytay and we wish him all the best.

The CEV is organized by Dorna alongside the Spanish Motorcycle Federation since 2008. Its aim is to “allow the youngest motorcycling talents from all over the world to develop their skills and potential in the best possible setting.”.
