A retro bike with modern substance.

The Classic 350 is Royal Enfield‘s bestselling motorcycle for quite a long time now. The motorcycle designed and styled to mimic the original motorcycles supplied by RE to the army in the 1950’s both in looks and feel, has captured the thumping hearts of many motorcycle enthusiasts, not only in India, but all over the world.

Even before the popularity of retro/classic/vintage style motorcycles, Royal Enfield has been selling the Classic 350.

In recent years, the company made big strides in improving its products which has given Royal Enfield dramatic growths in almost all markets and has since increased its brand appeal to a wider audience.

They started with the hugely successful Interceptor 650 twin three or four years ago and then followed it up by the Meteor 350 a year later. For both models, RE focused on refinement, reduced levels of NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) and easy to ride dynamics rather than pure outright performance.

The third model to get this make-over is the Classic 350. Now also “Reborn” or re-engineered with the following detailed changes and features:

– a new handlebar with new grips, switches and master cylinders to improve ergonomics and reduce NVH
– USB Charger
– Integrated Ignition & Steering lock
– Digital / Analog Instruments
– New headlamps
– a 13-liter fuel tank
– Larger 41mm forks
– Wider front tire (100/90-19)
– Wider rear tire (120/80-18)
– Bigger front disk brake (300mm)
– Bigger rear disk brake (270mm)

– A new 349cc BS6 engine that develops  20.2 bhp and  27 Nm
– smoother shifting transmission
– new twin downtube spine chassis
– new wider and better split type seats
– new grab rail
– new tail lamp design
– dual-channel ABS

These changes resulted in a reborn Classic 350 that is more stylish, more premium, smoother, more refined and, more importantly, more fun to ride.

It will come in four styling packages that will suit different tastes of what a retro  motorcycle should look like.

– Halcyon at P228,000

– Signals at P237,000

– Dark at P247,000

– Chrome at P250,000

The new Classic 350 will also have its own line up of RE Genuine Motorcycle Accessories.

Now, with a terrific model lineup at reasonable pricing levels, Royal Enfield is ready to move out of its “niche market” and expand to the mainstream market. It just needs to triple it’s current number of dealerships to take full advantage, as its bikes, like the reborn Classic 350 will appeal to a wider group of riders outside the “retro bike” niche.
