Ubec Cub: A Brotherhood of Street Cubs
Share this
Founded in 2018 by Radicz Matuguina and Clint Leandrei Plando, Ubec Cub started as a casual gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts sharing a love for Honda C70 street cubs. What began as a simple hobby quickly evolved into a tight-knit community, attracting riders from all walks of life.
The club’s logo, designed by Radicz Matuguina, features a handlebar symbolizing the street cub’s custom handlebars and black and white colors representing transparency. The name “Ubec Cub” is a simple and straightforward reference to Cebu and the iconic Honda C70.
Beyond their shared passion for motorcycles, Ubec Cub members are united by a strong sense of camaraderie and brotherhood. Their meet-ups are described as “therapy sessions,” filled with laughter, good company, and a genuine sense of belonging.
“The unique culture we have is the true essence of brotherhood. We are the kind of club that always goofs around. We don’t portray the “MALDITO” type of club. We stick to our guns when abiding the traffic rules. Unlike the other clubs, we don’t focus on the label “CLUB” as a group, but as barkada. Every meet-up is a blast! It’s like we’ve known each other for years! There are no dull moments when we are in one place, we even call our meet up as “therapy session” because in that moment, we feel like kids again laughing at each other’s company. I guess you really meet the nicest people in a Honda!,” Clint shared.
Ubec Cub actively contributes to the community through various charitable initiatives. They regularly participate in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and have organized charity rides to support less fortunate individuals. One memorable event involved a member dressed as a superhero distributing gifts and clothing to children in need.
The club has undertaken numerous memorable road trips, with one particularly challenging journey to Moalboal in 2019. Despite heavy rain and engine failures, the members persevered, demonstrating their resilience and unwavering spirit.
Being a part of Ubec Cub is more than just riding motorcycles; it’s about creating lasting friendships and experiencing the joy of shared passions. The club has enriched the lives of its members, fostering a love for riding and a sense of belonging that extends far beyond the road.
“First, we would like to give a big thanks to our Tigers (wives and partners) for their support. Without them really, this club would not exist. To our families, a huge thank you.
