The anchor coach and lead racer of the Watanabe Racing Development (WRD) performance riding school, Dashi Watanabe, will compete in the first ever MotoIR3 All-Star race for WRD Motul this July 17 at the Clark International Speedway Kart Track together with other star riders of Philippine road racing.
Champions, international racers and top guns of the Philippine racing scene are competing in the class sponsored by Motul, a French oil brand distributed locally by Moto Industriya.
The MotoIR3 All-Star race is part of the 2021 MotoIR Championships organized by InsideRACING and sanctioned by USRA.
Dashi Watanabe is a living legend in local road racing. He developed from pocketbikes to underbone racing at a very early age. He made his IRGP debut in 2007 with Team Kawasaki and went on to win multiple IRGP titles.
He also debuted in PSBK competition at an early age dominating the novice class. When Maico Buncio had a fatal accident, he was drafted by the Yoshimura-Suzuki Team to replace him in 2012 to race in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). He also raced for Aprilia in PSBK and won 2 championships.
For 2021, he is back competing at the highest level in Philippine racing, the PSBK, with Team FGM Kawasaki.
“Exciting itong All Star Race! Kakaiba, pinagsama-sama lahat ng champion riders sa ibat-ibang class from pocketbikes to superbikes! Same bike pa kami lahat 150cc MotoIR3!,” said Dashi on the upcoming All-Star race.
Top level superbike racers in Europe and USA use miniGP bikes to train as they cannot always ride their superbikes. The miniGP bikes require similar riding techniques to go fast that can be applied to much bigger and faster race bikes. This led the MotoIR organization to invest and pursue this new MotoIR3 spec bikes in order to bring the same training opportunity to our local riders.
Other star riders racing are, TJ Alberto of Access Plus Racing, BJ Ang of Alpinestars Motulpl PH, Alfonsi Daquigan of 53SportsFactory, Dustin Esguerra of Zebra LEXIN, Kirk Dominguiano of BG Power Stroke and Jonh Lery Enriquez are set to excite fans this Saturday and they will be racing on board MotoIR3 Kayo spec 150cc race bikes. Same GP style bike, same tires, new track and all-star riding skills! It will be a treat to race fans indeed. The race event will be livestreamed at the InsideRACING facebook page this Saturday
