The Denoo Motor Oil Limited Underbone Grand Prix of the Alpinestars IRGPXVI featured prominent Filipino underbone riders and racing teams and race fans were thrilled with the showcase of top racing skills at the Tarlac Circuit Hill.
With a lineup of expert riders, the class was highly anticipated and in pole position of the 15-lap race was Kerwin Chang of Sumulong 4S1M KC99. 4S1M Yamaha EVO’s John Emerson Inguito was second fastest in qualifying but was underweight while CRA SEC Motosupply Pitsbike rider Vrei-ar Suba was P3 at the starting grid. Faito KOSO Denoo DE69 racer Dustin Esguerra qualified fourth followed by Roel Rubin and Mario Borbon Jr. of Dad’s Garage 4S1M, Ephraim Onahon of Honda SCK Philippines KOBY, Carlo Calderon of Dad’s Garage 4S1M and Jakob Sablaya of Honda Project M KOBY.
Suba was off to a great start as well as Inguito even though he had bike problems before the race and had to start at the back. Chang was also on the hunt for P1 and the three displayed spectacular underbone racing. Inguito was able to take the lead as well as Chang but it was Suba who was able to reclaim it for good as the end of the race drew near. Suba joyously won the race which is a testament to his racing skills and the capability of his CRA SEC Motosupply Pitsbike racing team. Best lap time of the race was registered by Suba. His mechanic Jem Cercano received the Best Mechanic Award from JTEKT Corporation, a Toyota Group company which is a world leading manufacturer of bearings, automotive components and machine tools.
CRA SEC Motosupply was acknowledged as the Best Team in the Limited Underbone Grand Prix of IRGPXVI. MDAP Manufacturer’s Award was won by Yamaha Motor Philippines.
Inguito closely followed Suba to the finish line and settled for second place. Chang placed third while Sablaya finished fourth. Rubin was fifth to cross the finish line followed Onahon. Calderon finished seventh while Esguerra ended up at eighth place. Borbon Jr. was not able to finish the race.
