Sobretodo Stood Out in Thrilling Battle of Maxi Scooters; Castro Takes Second IRGPXVIII Title

The highly anticipated Petron Sprint Scooter Maxi Grand Prix of the Alpinestars IRGPXVIII indeed lived up to the tagline “action, drama and glory on two wheels” of the celebrated race event held at the Tarlac Circuit Hill in November 2025.

The grid had two categories, the Maxi Open GP for intermediate and expert racers and the Maxi Limited SP for novice and beginner riders.

With Omponetics RCB TSMP Yamaha’s McKinley Kyle Paz getting the pole position a day before, many looked forward to an exciting fight for the podium and the Wonderboy in his dominant form again. He did in the first half of the 12-lap race but race bike troubles hounded him and he ended up not finishing the race. Meanwhile, another strong contender for the win, Eane Jaye Sobretodo of XTeer Agnat KOBY Yamaha, took the lead and never looked back. Despite KESO racing team’s Masato Fernando and Timothy Rojas of NCY Suntal JDO at his back and battling for the checkered flag, Sobretodo showed consistency and seamless riding and eventually he won the race. Fernando and Rojas finished second and third in the Open GP class.

Kerwin Chang of KC99 BOM Rangsit X took the fourth place while finishing in P5 was Vortex Suba of VS Resultado SEC Kworkz. DE69 Faito Yamaha’s Dustin Esguerra was sixth to cross the finish line, NCY Suntal JDO’s Edcel Corpuz ended up in P7 followed by John Emerson Inguito of Dad’s Garage 4S1M Ravenol and Mayco Carbonel of Fastek Racing Team.

In the Limited SP class, it was ADM Racing Team’s Jasper Castro who emerged victorious. This was his second IRGPXVIII win. Kairee Fernando of KESO / Motohub was the second placer and Ronald “Uno” Galzote of KC99 BOM Rangsit X finished in third place. Pitsbike Chardworkz RRMoto’s Peter Paul Muñoz ended up in fourth place.
Aside from Paz, Jhareld Resultay of Pitsbike Chardworkz RRMoto and Hussein Deliganzo of Dynopro MDR Racing were also not able to finish the race.

As Sobretodo took the top podium spot, awarded as well was Angelo Cayangyang as the Best Mechanic and XTeer Agnat KOBY Yamaha as the Best Team. Paz still went up the podium to accept the Pole Position Award while Yamaha Philippines once again was the Best Manufacturer. Fastest Intermediate of the race was Vortex Suba and Muñoz was the Fastest Beginner.
