YECVT Shift to Performance Takes Command in Cebu

Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. (YMPH) continues to push boundaries in innovation, bringing riders closer to advanced technology through the second leg of YECVT: Shift to Performance for the NMAX TECHMAX.

Held at the summit of Mt. Busay, TOPS Cebu, and drawing a total of 116 participants from partner dealerships and YClub communities from the NMAX NEO Techmax Club and the NMAX Club of the Philippines Cebu Chapter, across Revzone DES Marketing Maxilom, Yamaha Motor Ace Gorordo, and Yamaha DES Strong Mandaue, the event highlighted the importance of the YECVT technology and the capability of Yamaha shops in servicing for YECVT.

YECVT Maintenance Demo and YPEC Discussion

At the YECVT maintenance demo station, technical experts provided an educational walkthrough detailing maintenance for the YECVT to retain its high-level performance, while highlighting how local 3S shops are fully equipped and capable of servicing them with advanced mechanics and technology. Alongside this is the YPEC station, Yamaha Part Electric Catalogue (YPEC) is a parts catalog system that conveniently aids in searching for part numbers, guiding customers on how to easily source available Yamaha Genuine Parts.

Participants also went through the the My Yamaha Motor Rev PH app booth for membership perks and rewards for Yamaha owners.

The YECVT Experience

Transitioning from theory to application, riders gear up with complete safety equipment, including intercom-equipped full-face helmets, protective guards, and identification jerseys. Before hitting the road, comprehensive route briefings led by the Yamaha Riding Academy ensure everyone stays safe and coordinated as they learn more about the YECVT.

Guided through their intercoms, riders navigated actual roads while exploring the capabilities of the YECVT, such as the 3-level downshift function and the smooth transition between touring and sports mode. When the rider needs stronger acceleration, pressing the Shift button activates a downshift. Pushing the button adjusts the CVT’s reduction ratio based on how the bike accelerates or decelerates, resulting in a change in engine rpm. If the rider needs additional acceleration, pressing the button results in successive “downshifts.” In addition, starting downshifts by pushing the Shift button can improve the efficiency of engine brakes when going downhill and in other conditions.

The Shift button allows for up to three successive downshifts. The number of downshifts that can be executed at a time is determined by several factors, including the ride mode selected, throttle opening, throttle angular velocity, vehicle speed, and engine rpm.
