A Memorable Victory for Amber

Faito-Yamaha racer Amber Garcia Torres gave a noteworthy performance in the IRGPXIII Top 1 Evolution Matic Juniors Automatic Trophy.

Starting in pole position, Amber was impeccable in the 9-lap race. Never letting go of the lead, the 16-year-old on a Yamaha Mio jubilantly crossed the finish line, taking his first IRGP title. It was a well deserved victory for Amber and aside from winning the race, he also got the race’s 1:18.913s best lap time.

It was an emotional victory and little did everyone know that it will be Amber’s first and only IRGP title. With his untimely demise more than a week after, the celebration and genuine joy on the rider’s face as he take his well-deserved IRGP champion trophy will forever be remembered and commemorated by his loved ones, team and legions of fans who admire and respect this young rider on and off the racetrack.

Taking the second place was Kerwin Chang of Yamaha-4S1M. Teammate Troy Patcho who also had his first IRGP experience finished third to the delight of his team members.

Phoenix-Yamaha-SEC rider Joharry “Jolo” Suba placed fourth. Fifth and sixth to cross the finish line were Jay-R Cambaog-Yamaha riders Jasper James Cruz and Joseph Dominique Purino. Jasmin Jao of Platinum Lubricants-JAD Racing, the lone female rider in the race class, finished seventh. Suzuki-VMan’s Nikko Nambatac settled for eighth place followed by Adrian Salonga of Bbspeed. Angelo Mascardo who is following his brother’s footsteps raced for Rico’s Lab and placed tenth but was hailed as the Fastest Privateer in his category. Marcelo Suba finished the race in eleventh place.

Yamaha Motor Philippines again received a Manufacturers Award with the victory of Amber.
