Despite the rumors that the National Capital Region (NCR) is going back to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) a few weeks ago, it was a relief to many that the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status was extended until June 30.

Therefore, outdoor activities such as motorcycle riding is allowed, since riders can easily comply with the required physical social distancing protocols when on the move.

After more than 3 months of no social or group ride activities, many big bike riders were finally able ride out with their respective big groups last Sunday to bond with their dearly missed riding buddies.

The rides were not the usual big group rides with lots of activities, rather just simple meet & greet, cruise, eat & socialize then ride safely back home again.

We want to share a few group rides by prominent big bike groups like UPAK Riders, ATAT, BOSS, Club R9T, Aprilia Philippines and Moto Guzzi Philippines who organized their own respective club rides last Sunday to different destinations.

The riders of United Passion for Adventures and Kareristas ( UPAK) went on a simple Breakfast ride to the North. The group rides multi brand motorcycles.

A highlight for them was the maiden ride of Pirelli Cup Class road racing champion Justin Dugeña-Go on her newly acquired 2020 Ducati Panigale V2.

The BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) had a breakfast ride at Jardin de Dasmariñas before riding all the way to Lago de Oro in Calatagan Batangas for lunch.

Meanwhile, more than 20 ATAT (Any Time All the Time) members rode to Tagaytay to have lunch at UCC Cliffhouse. This is their regular monthly official ride.

Nearby, the Club R9T (BMW R9T owners), an all BMW motorrad group exclusive to retro models, had a breakfast ride at Cafe Asiong also in Tagaytay. Among the rider members to attend was Senator JV Ejercito.

A big number of Moto Guzzi and Aprilia owners were accompanied by no other than Bikerbox President Marc De Joya and Chairman Mike Bondoc to Club Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas. Bikerbox is the official distributor of the two Italian brands.

It was not the first time that the owners of these two historic brands under the Piaggio Group met for a ride, but last Sunday was probably the biggest one to date.

We know that there were many more big bike clubs across the country who dusted their beloved bikes to feel again the freedom and good camaraderie that motorcycling can give.

We hope that this pandemic ends soon so that all riders can again freely go out for an adventure ride wherever and whenever they choose to.

This is an “old normal” activity that we do not want to go away no matter what.
