STKD CORTADO

Cortado is going up against some tough international competition in the global online contest Custom Rumble, and we are in for a tough battle, but it’s not something that we can’t win.

After the public release of Cortado last February, this quality build by our good friends from STKD is indeed world-class, during its recent unveiling. You might be wondering why it was called Cortado. In its simplest definition, Cortado is general term for a beverage consisting of espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk. More like having a good balance of all the ingredients for a perfect mix. And this café racer actually shows us that a perfect mix of ingredients accounts for a good coffee, or in this case a motorcycle.

This motorcycle is as unique as they come. Obviously the base bike is a Scrambler but how about a Panigale front suspension? Amazing. And changing the stock wheels into Rotobox, usually a top choice of many racers and performance orientated motor-cyclists all over the world. The good guys at STKD really went all out on this one. Check out the customized tank too, with its shape you could grip the tank with your legs and really have that  authentic café racer style. One of the first things you will notice are those nice headers that wrap around the entire frame of the bike. Wait until you hear it sound along with the fully customized pipe, we are still feeling the effects from the sound check they did during the bike night, not that it’s a bad thing. Other customizations include a custom seat made of gamusa leather, racing slick tires, aftermarket Ducabike clutch cover, after market footpegs, fully painted chassis, DID gold chain, among others. The Ducati Scrambler Custom Rumble is an art competition organized by Ducati. The objective and purpose of the competition is to reward the best customization of the motorcycles which of course is a version of the Ducati Scrambler. The version to start from is at the discretion of the builder, who can freely choose from the models of the Ducati Scrambler range.

Well what’s at stake here? The winners will be given the opportunity to participate at a dedicated event in 2018 during  which the finalists will be presented. The competition provides for the opportunity to register and be declared as the Best   Independent Customizer, Best Ducati Dealer, Best Scrambler Customer and Rookie Rumble. Of those 4 finalists, there will be one winner who will take the “Discovering California” package – a stars and stripes journey thrlugh the locations where Scrambler  was born. This 5-day tour also involves bringing in the winning bike all the way there. And we all hope it will be a Pasig to California trip. Well we want our friends from STKD to win it all the way so let’s support them by voting at the Ducati Scrambler site. Besides, of the 30 plus participants in the Best Independent Customizer category, there is only one Filipino entry. Let’s go Cortado!
