Tamayo young guns shine anew in US Motocross

The talent of Pinoy Riders shines anew during the 2023 MxMessiah USA trip in the qualifying stages of the Mammoth Motocross and Loretta Lynn National Motocross. Mammoth Motocross held at Mammoth Mountains California and Loretta Lynn Motocross held in Hurricane Mills Tennessee are annual Motocross competition that attracts the best amateur riders in the world, therefore to qualify in the said event is a huge accomplishment in itself. That is exactly what Shana Tamayo (Women Motocross) and Joshua Tamayo (65cc Limited & Modified) put themselves through as they bested other riders, to qualify in Mammoth Motocross. But due to unforeseen events, the schedule of the race in Mammoth Mountains was moved to a different date and they can’t be able to join.

But 13-year-old Shana Tamayo qualified in the Girls 11-16 and got the ticket to the infamous Loretta Lynn Motocross! She became the first homegrown Filipino to ever qualify for the ranch, arguably the first based in a third-world country motorsport race setting! Shana Tamayo got a P27 overall amongst the best Girls aged 11-16 riders in the world! As a result, she earned recognition from various US-based motorsports media thanks to KojieSan the very first sponsor who believed in her capabilities. On the other hand, the Tamayo Twins Joshua and Caleb were able to seal the 5-leg series with a win in the 65cc Age overall championship and Third Overall in the 65cc Beginner at the summer series of the infamous GlenHelen National Track in SanBernardino California.

This significant performance of Pinoy riders brings to light that we are globally competitive and that we should discover and support local talents and have them participate in international competitions. MX Messiah has always recognized the aptitude and confidence of Filipino riders and has been responsible for the development of emerging riders. This is why we should be on the lookout for new riders by staging pocket races as a tool/venue for discovering and developing riders and gearing them to compete in the global circuit.
