Kawasaki Motors Philippines have annunced to its dealers early November that the new upgraded Dominar 400 will be released this December 2021.

The Dominar 400 is one of the most affordable expressway-legal, entry level big bike currently sold in the market. The sports cruising motorcycle is a perfect choice for daily commuting and regular long distance multi-day touring with its relaxed ergonomics, strong engine and fuel efficiency. Proven in Asia and India, Dominar 400s and similar models have been ridden all over the world. It’s the most afforadable way to go motorcycle adventuring.

For 2022, the biggest change is the 4 stroke, 4 valve , fuel injected engine which now sports a more advanced Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) which improves response and raises its peak power output from 34.5hp of the old SOHC to almost 40hp or  39.43 hp. Torque is maintained at 35 Nm. The bigger power at higher rpm will surely add to its top speed.

It also has a very attractive double barrel exhaust pipe while its has retained its trademark Digital Twin Spark Ignition or DTS-i technology but now uses three spark plugs for the combustion of fuel within the engine cylinder. The use of three spark plug increase the burning efficiency of the fuel and produces more power with less amount of fuel.

Another new feature is the Upside Down (USD) front fork. Aside from looking more modern and sportier, they are lighter and stiffer than conventional forks which imprive the riding dynamics.

Other minor upgrades are the improved split digital instrumentation which now include a gear indicator, and redesigned side mirrors.

Features that are retained are Anti Lock Barking or ABS, Double disk brakes 320mm for the front and 230mm for the rear, 6 speed manual transmission and full LED headlamp.

Of course , all the upgrades come at a cost. The 2022 Kawasaki Dominar 400 is now priced at P195,000 or P20,000 higher than the old SOHC model. Considering the price of the old Dominar has not changed for a long time now, as well a the added  DOHC abd USD fork feature, the price increase in reasonable.
