Philippine Supermoto and MotoIR Youth Cup Senior Plus Debut at MotoIR’s Round 2

It was a jam-packed day last April 16 with the race day featuring MotoIR classes, series opener and new categories. The Tarlac Circuit Hill was dressed up for racing excitement again and was lapped by both familiar and up and coming riders.

Permanent Franchise Teams (PFT) of the Motul Super Series participating in the MotoIR Championship’s second round

Robert Ryan Espiritu bounced back after not stepping up the podium in the first round back in March. The Super RR racing team rider dominated the Denoo Motor Oil Underbone Open GP in wet conditions.

MotoIR Underbone 155 Limited and Underbone Club Race grid

In the MotoIR Underbone Limited GP class, John Emerson Inguito of 4S1M-EVO-Yamaha continued supremacy while fellow ARRC rider Kerwin Chang racing for 4S1M-KC99-Sumulong was victorious in the FDR Tire MotoIR Maxi race.

Kerwin Chang (99) won the FDR Tire Maxi Scooter class while Lawrence John Acay (15) was the winner in the MotoIR 160 category

Faito-KOSO-Denoo-DE69 riders performed well again with Lawrence John Acay winning the MotoIR 160 class and Trahvys Paralejas getting the first place in the Denoo Motor Oil Underbone Open SP category.

Motul Supersport 300 and Motul MotoIR Youth Cup Senior Plus grid

TWPO Project Philippines’ Kervie Bergania topped the MotoIR Scooter 125 Limited SP race while Team VMAN’s Russel Jarlego won the MotoIR Underbone Limited SP class. Winner in the Motul MotoIR SP was Joshua Sobretodo of Team VMAN and in a good form as well was Kevin Balinang who bagged the victory in the Motul Supersport 300 SP category for CRA-SEC Motosupply-Aspira.

Motul MotoIR and Backbone Club Race grid

Winners in the MotoIR beginner club races that day were Ed Tamodra of ZSR in the Backbone class, Caizz Jordan Torres of CRA in the Scooter club race and fellow CRA rider Joshua Christopher Ancheta in the Underbone category. There was also a fun pocketbike demo run for aspiring young riders to experience the track.

RML03232 Unfortunately, the much anticipated rematch of CRA-SEC Motosupply-Aspira’s Fritsy Claveria and Jakob Sablaya of Honda Project M KOBY did not happen. Claveria suffered a crash in the qualifying of the Motul Supersport 300 class which resulted to a broken bone. Sablaya on the other hand had problems in both his supersport and underbone race bikes making him unable to have a podium finish.

2023 KTM RC Cup round 1 grid

The three-round 2023 KTM RC Cup had its season opener on April 16. Winners in the first round were Boodoy Mueve of SEC Motosupply-Mototan-Attitude-2Joints (390 + GP) and CRA-SEC Motosupply-Aspira racers Queenie Claveria (200 SP), Roberto Rodrigo Ferrer (200 + SP), Kevin Balinang (300 SP) and Cheyenne Ban from Bacolod (390 + SP).

Motul MotoIR Youth Cup

Graduates of the Motul MotoIR Youth Cup 2022 season were elevated into the Senior Plus category wherein they get to ride KTM RC 200 bikes and race along Motul Supersport 300 riders. Trahvys Paralejas, the 2022 Senior class overall champ, won the new category while 2022 Junior champion Mytchell Joshua Ngo placed second and Senior graduate Joshua Sobretodo finishing third in the maiden race of the new Senior Plus class. Meanwhile, the 2023 Motul MotoIR Youth Cup which had Races 3 and 4 that day. Senior class winners were Franzjuric dela Cruz and John Alfred Santos. Vash Travis Aguilar and Eunice Mae Sta. Ana were the first placers in the Junior group.

RML04852 One of the highlights of the day was the opening of the Philippine Supermoto Championship where renowned riders Kenneth San Andres and Dustin Esguerra showcased their riding skills at the Tarlac Circuit Hill.

The MotoIR Championship, Motul MotoIR Youth Cup, KTM RC Cup and Philippine Supermoto Championship are organized by InsideRACING. These series are sanctioned by NAMSSA and USRA. MotoIR class sponsors are French oil brand Motul which is distributed locally by Infiniteserv International, FDR Tires and Denoo Motor Oil. Round 3 of the MotoIR Championship is at Acienda Designer Mall Outlet in Silang, Cavite on May 21.
