Jakob Sablaya from Antipolo City and Honda Philippines will try to clinch their first national championships this Sunday Sept 18 at Tarlac during the Performance and Lifestyle EXPO GP.

It will be the 4th round of the 2022 MotoIR Championships, Philippine National road race event sanctioned by NAMSSA, the FIM National Federation in partnership with Club affiliate USRA. It is presented by Denoo Motorcycle pils in partnership with Motul, KTM,Pirelli, Zeneos, Beast, FDR, Extreme One, and Quick.

The combination of Sablaya and Honda,  supported by Triumph JT and Project M, are leading the Denoo Open Underbone GP class on the Honda Supra GTR150 and is a close second to the Underdone Sealed GP. Meanwhile, Sablaya is also just a point behind in the Motul MotoIR2 GP class on the CBR150R !

Sablaya hopes to extend the lead in the Open UB GP class so he can secure for the Honda Supra GTR150 its historical first Philippine national championship. If he finally seals it on the last round on October 16, then the Honda GTR150 would have beaten different top riders and teams on Yamaha Snipers and Suzuki Raiders during the whole season. Something loyal Honda fans are looking forward to celebrate.

However, this Sunday will be more challenging for the team as the Philippines’ FIM ARRC podium winning team and rider John Emerson Inguito and 4S1M Yamaha will be returning to Philippines racing starting this Sunday. No doubt, they cannot catch Sablaya and Honda anymore in the points and only steady strong finishes are all that is required for Sablaya to accomplish in the last 2 races to clinch the national title. This luxury is a result of the team’s consistency and commitment to the championship.

Sablaya and the Supra also performed well in Cebu for 2022!

By the time the Annual Championship Awards are given at the World Trade Center at the end of October, it would still have been only less than a year since the Sablaya, Honda and Project M partnership was formed in preparation for IRGP.

Honda’s new rider Jakob Sablaya and Project M’s Mikki Torres proved to be a wise choice for Honda Philippines for 2022

Judging from the results, where the Supra GTR150 was able to perform and win consistently not only Tarlac but also elsewhere in Luzon and in many different racetracks including Cebu, we can say that this new partnership was a success. The team that would finally bring Honda back to the top of underbone racing in the Philippines!

Honda fans can support and cheer by watching the race in Tarlac or during the FB livestreaming of the races.
