Yamaha announced two track-only R6 models for 2022: R6 RACE and R6 GYTR
Date posted on November 30, 2021
Yamaha’s total commitment to racing is second to none. In addition to running its own race teams, Yamaha has a long history of supporting racers and teams in WorldSSP. This factory backing has been rewarded once again with Dominique Aegerter winning the 2021 WorldSSP Championship on board his Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSSP Supported Team Yamaha R6.
And on the back of this fifth consecutive WorldSSP Championship for the all-conquering R6, Yamaha launches the track-only R6 RACE and R6 GYTR. These two non-homologated models give you the chance to experience the ultimate in 600cc Supersport performance – whether you’re a track day rider or committed racer.

The R6 RACE will be available in sleek Tech Black with golden coloured forks, and its competitive wet weight and class-leading performance make it the ideal machine for enjoying track day events – as well .as being the perfect base model for racers who want to personalize it to their own specification.
R6 GYTR: Ultimate Racing Supersport
The R6 GYTR is designed for a wide selection of customers from track day riders through to serious racers and comes fully equipped with a wide range of performance-enhancing GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) parts – including a programmable Superstock ECU with a cable interface enabling you to optimize engine performance. The R6 GYTR is also supplied with a lightweight titanium Akrapovič racing exhaust system, racing chain and sprockets, and high specification stainless steel brake lines – as well as a GYTR race seat and fully adjustable billet rear sets.
R6 GYTR is the clear choice if you’re a more demanding racer who wants to take your bike’s performance to an even higher level by fitting a range of engine, suspension or other components from the GYTR line-up. It is supplied with a lightweight primer white carbon reinforced glass fibre cowling, enabling you and your team to apply your own race livery and logos – and is available exclusively through Yamaha GYTR PRO SHOPS, the first and only place that racers and track days riders need to go for all of their racing needs.
