Honda just introduced the refreshed CB400X adventure motorcycle at its home domestic market in Japan.

It has only minor cosmetic changes without any mechanical upgrade.

2020 model updates include red highlights, camouflage-like decals and a blacked-out theme. The motorcycle retains features like all-LED headlamp, adjustable windscreen, 7-spoke wheels, and digital instrumentation.

It retains the old model’s dual-outlet exhaust system, slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS and 5-step adjustable front brake lever.

It has a 399cc liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder engine with ‘PGM-Fi’ technology. It produces 45bhp @9,000rpm and 38Nm @7,500rpm. It has a 6-speed transmission.

The ground clearance is 150 mm while the seat height is friendly at 800mm, just right for the average Asian rider built.

However, this model will not be available here in the Philippines at the moment since Honda Philippines is selling the more attractive and bigger CB500X that comes equipped with a 471cc twin-cylinder engine that pumps out a maximum power of 47bhp @ 8,600rpm and a peak torque of 43Nm @ 6,500rpm.

More importantly, the estimated price gap will not be big enough so the CB500X is the better choice for our market since it is not only bigger but its 471cc engine easily clears the Expressway minimum displacement rule.

The CB500X is priced at P413,000 at all Honda Big Bike centers.
